The Machine Shop Supervisor oversees production of metal machined and assembled parts within established standards and safety requirements. This position reports to the General Manager and President of the company. The position will supervise about 10-15 hourly associates. They will oversee the planning, scheduling, setup, and running of metal fabricating production activities ensuring effective work performance is met.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for being a leadership resource providing metalworking knowledge, training needs, status/scheduling updates, experience, motivation, support and advice
- Responsible for managing production schedules and ensure timely completion of orders
- Responsible for purchasing and quoting
- Coordinate production of metal parts and process flow through responsible departments
- Maintain inventory control on tools, materials, and parts
- Set-up machines and troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and coordinates repairs
- Implement, instruct and enforce safety and good housekeeping practices in the production process and in the general company environment
- Oversee shipping department
- Assess, train, and coach employees in the proper use of production equipment, safety, and tooling and to improve the team’s overall success
- Provide general support to production supervisors and team, as needed
- Manage employee interactions, schedules, assignments, and proper employee documentation
- Assist in hiring employees, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in metalworking machine shops
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Strong CNC programing skills on mills and lathes
- Must be self-directed and able to deliver results
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge and practice of OSHA safety regulations
- Computer literate
